Five minutes with … David Scognamiglio, Credit Simple CEO
David is our boss of everything. He knows lots of stuff about digital and websites, he surfs more than he should but not as much as he would like, and due to heavy use of Oil of Olay wrinkle-reducing eye cream in his teens, he still gets ID’ed when he’s trying to buy wine.
What does a day in the life of you at Credit Simple look like for you?
Usually a plane trip, meeting a bank or finance company to get better deals going. Right now I’m alternating between product, marketing and tech. And answering emails from our highly engaged board about ideas they keep coming up with.
What do you particularly like about what we’re doing with Credit Simple?
It’s an opportunity to change the retail banking industry for the better. And I love the team of people we have. I can’t wait to get to work to be amongst a bunch of driven and talented people.
Have you requested your own credit file and if so what did you think/what did you find out?
I have – I’ve been doing it for years so no surprises there.
What did you do at uni?
I’m a uni drop-out – I studied law and quit last year.
What did you do in your previous job/previous couple of jobs?
I ran the direct to consumer business at Veda, and founded CarHistory, a business helping people know about a vehicle’s history before they buy it.
What do you do in your free time?
Surf as much as I can.
Tell us a little-known fact about you…
I’m not in my 20s…
If you were stuck on a desert island and you could choose one person from the Credit Simple team to come with you, who would you take and why?
I’d take Dorian – we’ve spent years working together and have gotten out of a few tricky situations that would make escaping a deserted island ‘simple’.
I was thinking Hazel because of her legendary wilderness skills, however after I read the question below, I got worried I may become dinner.
If you were stuck on a desert island and you could choose one person from the Credit Simple team to eat first, who would you eat and why?
I’d eat Dorian. He drinks so much Berocca, he’d be full of vitamin B!
